hey,
i'm putting together a zine that will feature the voices of
girls/women/transfolk involved in hardcore and punk scenes around the
country and beyond. basically i'm looking for stories. i'd like these
stories to be about significant things in your lives that shaped who
you are, whether this means the first time you heard your favorite band
or went to your first show, or stories of overcoming hardships and
oppression or rape/sexual abuse or jail or homelessness, or stories of
forming a band or being on tour or becoming an activist, or stories of
clashing with patriarchy in your local music scene or learning to
become empowered as a lady, queer lady, person of color or gender
minority...basically anything, the common denominator being that you
are a woman or trans, and punk/hardcore music and its surrounding
scenes are or have been a major part of your life.
stuff like
this has been done before but i want to do it in 2010. ladies of all
ages are encouraged to submit stories (350 words or less if possible,
please), or if you're in a band and have a photo of yourself playing
live, i would love to print some of those too. please include your
first name (or specify that you would like to remain anonymous), your
age, and your city/town (or not).
***** please send all
submissions to sisterhoodzine [at] gmail [dot] com ***** and pass this
along to your friends who may be interested!
thanks for your help!
