We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

One of the nice things about posting stuff is buying stamps with nice pictures and getting packages with great ones on. What's the best ones you've seen?

I once got a parcel with muppet stamps on. Muppet stamps!
I also recently bought some unicorn stamps.

They're UK stamps. We get some pretty good designs. Also the standard ones are sparkly metallic.

I'm always jealous of the international stamps that I can't buy here. Like the American stamps with Andy Warhol on 'em, and the ones with various superheroes. My favourite Canadian stamps are the Anne Of Green Gables ones that we had last year, as well as the Audrey Hepburn and Mary Pickford ones. I also love checking out the stamps from places I don't often receive mail from, like the Netherlands and Japan.

WH Smiths (generic chain stationers) sell sacks of vintage stamps for craft purposes for £1 a bag, and they always have loads of kitschy communist ones for things like "international socialist children's day" in them.

i got something from india recently & the stamps had some kind of big water bird, like maybe a pelican, on them. (it's my boyfriend who is into ornithology, not me, so i could have the species way off.) the wash on the stamp was really beautiful, like the fake stamps nick bantock makes.

maybe ten years ago, there was a series of great lakes lighthouse stamps. i was all about those, having grown up on the coast of lake erie.

Yes! They were exciting. Interestingly, Mary Pickford was Canadian but was reported to be the first woman ever to have been called "America's Sweetheart".

Hammer Horror stamps from England? I'd love to get my hands on those! We had a series of "classic monster" stamps here in the U.S. a few years ago, and a nice "E. A. Poe" stamp (I think) this year. I always buy more than I can use when they come out with cool horror related stamps just so I can keep some for my personal collection.
