We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

A stereotypes is like a small box, where some of us would like to fit a vast and diverse population into. It's like taking a few apples, oranges, grapes, straberries, lime, and tomatoes--yes, tomatoes--putting all of them in a box and labelling it: fruits. It's a crude categorization. It's kind of the human mind's instinctive way to make complex categories into simpler, more understandable ones...

then there are the archetypes. Between the two, i think the archetype is the more positive one. An archetype is more like a model, where the epitome of this or that characteristic is molded into. Like Penelope of the Odyssey, she would probably be the archetype of the patient and faithful wife, who'd wait even with the absense of tangible hope...

So anyways, for my nect project, I'm thinking of makign a series of minizines, each discussing a stereotype in contrast to a corresponding and appropriate archetype...

what do you guys think? would anyone be interesterd in reading this?

oh and everyone is welcome to suggest any archetype they are interested in... and it doesnt have to be a character from some myth like ym example or anything like that... you can make one up or allude to a pop figure or whatever... and any stereptypes that you just hate and wish to erase and replace with a ,more positive archetype?

I'm interested! I like the Commedia Del'Arte archetypes from Italian theatre [I was Pierrot for Halloween last year] personally. If you'd like some help, let me know. Otherwise I'd like a copy when it's done!
