We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Old zines we wish we could find:

Since this is a forum for zine nerds, maybe here we can say "oh I wish I could find a copy of (blah blah blah) zine" and some other old fart can say "oh that zine, I have a copy of it in my attic!" and then we can trade, everyone goes home happy.

Does anyone remember a zine called: "The I Hate People Gazette"? It was late 80s/early 90s and was done by some sort of horror obsessed, goth kid from Maryland (I think). Anyone who has info, let me know? http://www.csh.rit.edu/~diablo/icon/icon15.html This is a defunct website, with no current informatiom, but that picture is fuckin awesome.

Also, a Montana based punk fanzine called "Shat Apon" (or Shat Upon) .. Anyone? anyone?

I'm sure there's more...

Very interesting thread, blackcarrot.

One day when I have the cash I wouldn't mind tracking down the full collection of ROLLERDERBY zines. It pretty much reinvigorated my own zine, dumb/SULK trigg-er, in 1997 when I discovered it. I ended up interviewing Lisa Carver by phone (a transatlantic call from Scotland) for a couple of issues. She was great: bright, edgy, funny, flirtatious , and I bought quite a few issues + the books. But, to save forking out for yet more photocopying and because I was too impatient I cut big chunks out of many of them to paste into the zine along with the interview. Bah! A full set of untarnished copies would be great. I'm not much of a one for collecting things really but I would like to read them all at some point.

LC has a MySpace page called Drugs Are Nice and she seems to be having a yard sale of all her stuff so I might see what I can buy in the New Year.

I remember there was a US-based online store which had quite a few issues of Rollerderby. I forgot the name, but maybe you are better than me in tracking things down in the internet.

Ah, thanks Gianni. I'll look into that in the New Year. :-)

I found it! Unbelievable but true... http://apoprecords.com/
Unfortunately the site is currently under construction... Hope they still have some Rollerderby left because I'd like to buy them too.

You didn't like those bands? Pity.

I think that Integrity's "Humanity is the Devil is still amazing. "Satanic"/anti-Christian hardcore when the rest of their scene was doing collegiate fonts and youth crew clones? Sign me up! Most of Integrity's old stuff is available online for free, legit, at whatever website or myspace you can find, aside from the entire catalog being on Soulseek, of course.

Also fun was Dwid Hellion's appearances on Dissonance Radio:

If I haven't destroyed the evidence, I might be able to find punk zines I was doing in this era. Granted, I was mostly making fun of the bands that you talked here. Perhaps that's what you want.

A zine that I want the full run of is "Queer Fuckers Magazine" from Salt Lake City, Utah. There are a couple up on qzap.org, and I know that the SLC Library has at least two in their collection, but I want them all, in print, in me fucking hands, yeah?

More importantly, I wonder what those kids are up to these days? I suppose they all must have flown the coop. San Francisco, Silicon Valley? East coast? Where are they now?

Ah, great! Cheers for this link, Gianni.

I'm hunting for a not-too-old zine called "Hope" (oh, that's a common title ;) that came out in '03 or so. It featured a story about a dance project ON NYC subway trains.

Also looking for a comic from the late 90's or early 00's that I completely forget the title of- it's got amazingly ornate illustration and it was about a virus that had taken over the world and a group of smart kids that were on a reality television show called the "Vaccinators" where they blew it up to larger-than-human size and fought the virus.

I was just doing an entry on Shat Upon for ZineWiki and found your post when looking for more info. It was great, published by a guy named Rusty out of Missoula. If you want the issue in the photo, bug me, we can work a trade or something.

Anyone here know of a zine called Nappy Bush written by Dionne Herbert? As far as I can remember, she was the only Black zinester to be included in Race Riot 2. The first issue of her zine came out in 2000 but I could never find it. I'd love to get my hands on a copy of Nappy Bush and possibly review it or talk about it in my current zine! Please help!
