We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Old zines we wish we could find:

Since this is a forum for zine nerds, maybe here we can say "oh I wish I could find a copy of (blah blah blah) zine" and some other old fart can say "oh that zine, I have a copy of it in my attic!" and then we can trade, everyone goes home happy.

Does anyone remember a zine called: "The I Hate People Gazette"? It was late 80s/early 90s and was done by some sort of horror obsessed, goth kid from Maryland (I think). Anyone who has info, let me know? http://www.csh.rit.edu/~diablo/icon/icon15.html This is a defunct website, with no current informatiom, but that picture is fuckin awesome.

Also, a Montana based punk fanzine called "Shat Apon" (or Shat Upon) .. Anyone? anyone?

I'm sure there's more...

I am looking for any old zines 1989 - 1995 that covered cleveland hardcore bands.
Especially interviews, photos, reviews of Integrity, Confront, Outface, Face Vaaaaule, etc.

I would like to digitize them for an ongoing web project that might transition into print.

A bit off-topic, maybe, but I used to have a couple of anthologies that had cartoons by a guy called Chris Fraser (sometimes creditied as Chris Frazer) in them - they were highly stylised to the point of almost being abstract at times. I thought they were awesome. I was wondering does anybody know if this guy is still involved in drawing comics or if there are good places to look for his work? I'd love to get him to do something for Attack!!!! if he'd be interested(!)

the very first zine i ever read was called "positive youth" and its from 1981 i think, about the clevo punk scene. dunno if it would exactly fall into what you're looking for but maybe you'd find it interesting?

POSITIVE YOUTH? I have not heard of it.
But it sounds hilarious. Do you know who put it out?

If I haven't destroyed the evidence, I might be able to find punk zines I was doing in this era. Granted, I was mostly making fun of the bands that you talked here. Perhaps that's what you want.

Bri, what are some of the bands talked about in Positive Youth? (This summer I worked at a concert club in the Cleveland area, so I'm curious to see if any of the punk oldsters I hung out with are mentioned.)

Even if I don't find it, I feel the need to tell you that when I worked at McDonald's, members of Integrity would go through the drive-thru, presumably after band practice, but WEARING INTEGRITY T-SHIRTS. no joke. as if anyone needed reminded!

I will dig for those zines when I'm in Bloomington.

i'm a totally typical zinestress in that i want so badly to read old riot grrrl zines from the 90s- especially "jigsaw youth", "bikini kill", and/or "gunk" amongst others.

What I would do to get my hands on any of those zines ohh man.

Any 90's riot-grrrl/feminist zines period. I'd love to read.

By any chance, is Bikini Kill Lisa Falour's old zine?

OH MAN!
Classic.
The other thing the Integ guys used to do was constantly listen to their own music.
In case, they forgot their own songs, I guess.

Before CONFRONT - Chubby Fresh, Mean Steve and Tom Front had a FAT BOYS sort of band where all they did was write songs about food. Junk & fast food, mainly. I can't recall the name of the band, but each member had a nickname after some fast food item.

You can't make this stuff up you know?
