We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

Old zines we wish we could find:

Since this is a forum for zine nerds, maybe here we can say "oh I wish I could find a copy of (blah blah blah) zine" and some other old fart can say "oh that zine, I have a copy of it in my attic!" and then we can trade, everyone goes home happy.

Does anyone remember a zine called: "The I Hate People Gazette"? It was late 80s/early 90s and was done by some sort of horror obsessed, goth kid from Maryland (I think). Anyone who has info, let me know? http://www.csh.rit.edu/~diablo/icon/icon15.html This is a defunct website, with no current informatiom, but that picture is fuckin awesome.

Also, a Montana based punk fanzine called "Shat Apon" (or Shat Upon) .. Anyone? anyone?

I'm sure there's more...

Late 90s and early 00s copies of Real Overdose, best zine in the world in my opinion!

In another forum, people are debating the pro and cons of photocopying other people's stuff. Do you guys think we will be burned and sent to zine hell? As I stated in that forum, I see no problem in doing what blackcarrot has suggested here. Unfortunately I've joined the zine circus only in 2000 and in my collection there are no old gems. As you call yourself a nerd, do you happen to have an actual list of zines you have?

i'm a totally typical zinestress in that i want so badly to read old riot grrrl zines from the 90s- especially "jigsaw youth", "bikini kill", and/or "gunk" amongst others.

i'd also LOVE to read any of seth bogard/seth applebee/seth baskets (aka HUNX of gravy train!!!!)'s old zines. i remember a few months ago when i was watching something on youtube where they interviewed him and somehow his past with zines came up and i made the connection that he was totally that kid from the book "zine scene"! i was REALLY excited that i found this out cuz the section on his zines in that book was always one of my faves and uh...duh, i love GT!!!!

i also always thought the zine "sweetheart" thats featured in "zine scene" looked pretty cool.

Same here! I remember really enjoying the excerpts from Sweetheart in that book.

I really loved the zine Songs About Ghosts and loaned my copies of the first (and only?) two issues to a friend, only to have them lost. I'd love to be able to have those zines back.

Doug Holland's "Pathetic Life." Does anyone have an issue or two or three to share with me. I mean (god forbid) copy and actually send all the way to Japan? I can trade or send you cash or the infamous Japanese weird snacks or whatever.

I wish I could find the box of zines that must have gone missing when we moved. I think it may be in my Mom's storage building, but it's such a mess in there, who knows if or when it will show up. I don't know what all was in that box, but some of my favorite and most important zines were in there, including the first few issues of Zine World, a copy of this really amazing construction of a zine by Jason Shiga, some of the earliest zines I collected in trades, etc.

I have managed to acquire replacement copies of those missing Zine Worlds. Recently I bought some zines from another zinester who was cleaning out his collection -- I got a copy of the first Factsheet 5, a Beer Frame, Temp Slave, Dishwasher, Chips Closet Cleaner.

I have a few. I'll hook you up. I know that Doug would not mind. Hook me up with something cool for my kiddo and we'll call it even.

I would also love to see some riot grrrl zines. Also one of the first zines I read in the early 2000s, "Dude, I Love Her" zine. I looved that zine. Haha.

I managed to score a whole bunch of issues of PATHETIC LIFE from a fellow zinester who was cleaning out her attic and just wanted to get rid of them and that was pretty much the only zine that I had ever really been dying to read. To be honest I almost feel like just giving them away to me was too generous of her, but I am not one to turn down freebies under any circumstances.

Gianni, I could also make you a couple of copies if you'd like.
