We Make Zines

a place for zinesters - writers and readers

I just got an etsy, (http://www.etsy.com/shop/LoneSockDigest) because many people here made reference to it.

What do you guys think of it? Is it worth it to keep relisting? It's very convienent to buy zines, but it doesn't do much to get other people to read yours.

I'm sorry if there's already another discussion about this.

You need to search for "zines" in quote marks- Etsy search is shit, if you don't use the quote marks it gives you all kinds of unrelated stuff
I go to catagory "books and zines" then go to the subcatagory "zines" ;-)

Eh voila
Without quote marks http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_type=handmade&sea... hundred of pages of anything made of paper

With quote marks http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_type=handmade&sea... 5 pages of relevant results

or go to google and type in "Etsy zines"
Yes, if you search for "zines" it does narrow it down to 5 pages, but if you go to "Books and Zines" and then to "Zine" it brings up 93 pages. MOST of these from a quick browse SEEM to be zines, so if you do it through "zines" in the search box, only getting 5 pages, are you missing almost a hundred pages of zines? If not that much, still a lot?

Again, this obviously works well for a lot of people, but it's just to confusing and laborious for me. Maybe if there were some sort of "printable version", concise with all the info, that you could at least scroll down, that'd at least eliminate some of the clicking and waiting. Maybe I'd even try to print it out. Then I could browse at my liesure, circle interesting entries, and meet the sellers half-way by ordering on-line.

It saddens me that all these people turned away from the good-old review zines that could've been filled with their offers. But hey, we're not in Kansas anymore.

I can't begrudge Etsy users their ways, but it's just too much work for me.
I still use review zines. I dunno. I think if you do both you can direct the people who read the reviews to the etsy shop? It doesn't take as long, for one. You don't have to send the money through the mail, wait for them to get it, and then send the zine back.
I always list mine as 1 because it costs less.
