The conquering and bold defiance: a radical history walk around Spitalfields/Brick Lane

Learn about this area’s long and rebellious past: rioting silkweavers, Jewish radicals, anarchists, anti-fascist struggles, gentrification and conservation, and much more. The walk is being organised as part of the London Zine Symposium by Past Tense.

Bereavement tape will be running a casual workshop at their table throughout the day showing people how to make an Atari Punk Synth with their introduction to DIY electronics.

Tape trade box

Mixtapes aren’t dead yet. Bring along a mixtape and trade it for one that someone’s left in the box. Find out about what music makes other zinesters tick.

Zine making 101

This is a chance to get some advice for all of your zine making questions. Three zinesters (to be confirmed) will be offering help and stories relating to making zines using risographs, photocopiers and ‘proper’, off-set litho, printers. Hopefully the workshop will give new information to anyone interested, but is primarily aimed at those who have just started out in the world of zines.

Throwing zines at Thatcher

In the 1980s zines were an essential part of the resistance to the Tory government. Come along to here the history, from zinesters involved, and discuss whether zines can be relevant to fighting Tory cuts in 2011.
