Event Description

A workshop/discussion event with three aims:

1. To introduce people to and inspire them about “zines”. Zines (relatives of fanzines) are independently published (usually photocopied) DIY magazines about anything

2. To discuss the future of Artemis Zine with the new Artemis Editor. Artemis is the Women’s Network zine and currently an open forum for self expression with the general theme of “women’s issues”.

3. A zine reading from and discussion with Alex Wrekk about her involvement with zines. Alex Wrekk is an awesome zinester from Portland, Oregon (USA!) who’s been writing her own personal zine, Brainscan, since 1997. She’s also just totally rewritten and expanded her incredible zinester book/resource, Stolen Sharpie Revolution: A DIY guide to Zines and Zine Culture, which is basically the bible for everything zine!

No previous knowledge about zines required!

Please don't be put off by the middle aim if you're interested in coming to hear Alex Wrekk read and talk!
