Inspired by the 24 Hour Comics Day, the 24 Hour Zine Challenge asks participants to create a 24-page zine in 24 hours. Without any outlines, prepared writings or previously made pages, comic artists, writers and zinesters will gather at ZAPP and begin a marathon to create a complete and original zine, staying up into the night and the early hours of the morning to do so. For this test of creative endurance, participants can draw inspiration from over 20,000 zines in ZAPP’s collection as well as use the archive’s myriad of supplies, feed off of the energy of others feverishly producing their own unique zines and enjoy the snacks and refreshments provided.
Admission to the 24 Hour Zine Challenge is free, but registration is required as space is limited. Registration begins July 1 and ends July 10. Register via email at zapp@hugohouse.org, in person at Richard Hugo House’s front desk or by calling (206) 322-7030.
