a place for zinesters - writers and readers
The Madison Zine Fest is an event celebrating zines held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Book Festival.
The Zine Fest:
-Brings zines into more libraries, more communities, and to more varieties of readers.
-Encourages the creation of independent media and alternative publishing.
-Celebrates self-expression and freedom of speech.
-Brings together people who appreciate the medium of zines and want to share work and ideas.
Zine makers and distributors from Wisconsin, the Midwest, and beyond will display, trade, and sell their work at this day-long zine fair. Bring your zines to trade and some cash to purchase some of the best zines from the area and nation.
The Madison Zine Fest will also feature presentations, workshops, and educational information so that newcomers as well as experienced zinesters will be able to learn more about zines.
Showcase your Zine, Distro, Library, or Related Project!
Table registration is now open. Visit www.midwestzines.org for more information and to register your table.
Want to share your passion and expertise?
Lead a workshop, serve on a panel, read from your zine, or start a discussion. We’re especially looking for people to conduct children’s activities. Please let me know how you'd like to contribute to the fest at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Free and open to the public.
The Madison Zine Fest partners with and is generously sponsored by the Wisconsin Book Festival, a program of the Wisconsin Humanities Council. The 2008 Wisconsin Book Festival will be held October 15-19, 2008. For more information about the book festival, visit www.wisconsinbookfestival.org.
